The Pattern Search
Hundreds of theories have been launched about where the bitGANs are hiding the correct seed phrases, and even more empty wallets have been found.
While it is exciting to crack an empty wallet so easily, it just demonstrates how many there are - which is quite literally more than the number of atoms in the universe. It used to concern me that someone could stumble on my wallet, and still does. However, I am reminded that I should consider my wallet as nothing more than hiding spot for my crypto, similar to if I dug a hole in a park and buried a bag of money in it. But to give an idea of how much better a hiding spot crypto wallets are, imagine that I am hiding my crypto in an atom somewhere in the universe that only I know the location of. Can someone find the atom I hid it in? Yes, but there are a lot of atoms in the universe. Can’t think of a safer place to hide my NFTs.
So first thing this hunt revealed was that there are a lot of wallets. It also revealed that there are a lot of patterns hidden in the bitGANs. Some intentional, some natural, and many that were discovered by the bitGANg that I didn’t even intend.
The following is not a clue, but a synopsis of all the clever and creative observations people have made. These have all been drawn from the PUBLIC discord discussions and may or may not help people that are close to finding the 12 seed phrases to the wallet containing the noohpGAN and the mazzoneGAN, seen here:
Recap of the Clues
For a quick recap of the clues, the bitGANs have revealed two journal entries
https://bitgans.com/journal/page013
In addition to these journal entries, the following four clues have also been revealed on the bitGAN discord.
1: The seed phrase and its order is hidden in the 92 bitGANs of the Solstice Drop.
2: It begins with sunrise, and it ends with sunset.
3: Their essence is just a distraction, they hide their true BIP39 nature elsewhere.
4: It begins with sunrise and it ends with sunset… everything else is in between.
bitGANg Theories
From these clues, hundreds of wallets have been cracked. Below you will find many of the theories proposed PUBLICALLY on the bitGAN discord server. If you shared something with me privately, I assumed you wanted it kept private and did not include it below.
So here is brief list of the more interesting bitGANg theories
5: Some have noticed that the first and last bitGAN of drop have the BIP39 word “day” and “night” in the date property.
6: Others have interpreted the first and last bitGANs to be the BIP39 words “solar” and “lunar”
7: Some have noticed that there are 12 Ethereal types, and used them to find the BIP39 words.
8: Others have theorized that all the BIP 39 words are encoded in the date property.
9: And others wondered if the 9 inverted bitGANs have a special significance.
10: Some have noticed there are 12 month similar to 12 BIP39 words.
11: Others have noticed 13 of the subtypes are BIP39 words (bird, cloud, ghost, glow, lunar, monster, slender, smoke, solar, vivid, twin, skull, artist)
12: Deep analysis uncovered that there are 13 matches for moon phases (new-quarters-full), including Bird monsterGAN, and if you removed Bird monsterGAN from it, you were left with 12 words.
13: Some have also observed that the 4 Crypto artGANs fall on the change of seasons, and that there are BIP39 words associated with the seasons.
14: Others have also pointed out that there are also 6 Colors that are associated with BIP39 words - (blue, brown, gold, orange, yellow, green)
15: One person put the 12 six dimensional bitGANs in date order, noticed it began with “solar” and ended with “lunar” so they tried that as a seed phrase.
16: Many have noticed that the BIP39 word for the Monster birdGAN is out of alphabetical order.
17: Experiments have been done with swapping the BIP39 words for SLIP39 words.
18: Other experiments have explored using the dates as an encoding for the BIP39 words.
19: Experiments have even been done with inverting the BIP39 number to find a different word, particularly when it was an Inverted bitGAN.
20: Others have focused on celestial events, and have plotted out the correlation between them and the dates of the 90 dated bitGANs.
21: More than one has observed that the bitGANs are unevenly distributed between the months, and that the months with fewer bitGANs are BIP39 words.
22: At least two tried converted everything to binary or hex and then converting that into BIP39 words.
23: Others have theorized that it is not a 1-to-1 mapping of 12 specific bitGANs, but seed phrase that comes from collection as a whole.
24: One of the barcodes in the second clue was deciphered to 6621439 and mapped to a specific bitGAN.
25: Another observations was that the 4 main seasonal bitGANs are 18 bitGANs apart, indicating a numeric or schematic pattern.
26: The words “potato” “elite” “book” and “moon” were found in two of the cryptoArtGANs.
27: One attempt was made to swap the American date structure with International to help reveal a different set of BIP39 words.
28: Several others looked at their animations to see if it held any patterns.
29: Someone even thought the bitGANs were so cruel that they would encode themselves into brail if plotted out on a calendar.
30: One even looked for the seed phrase in their dreams.
31: More desperate than searching in their dreams, a couple even tried to brute force a solution.
32: Several thoughtful people attempted to match the bitGANs to patterns in constellations.
33: Others noticed that four BIP39 words were skipped in the sequential ordering, and wondered if their exclusion meant they were four of the final BIP39 words.
34: And of course, in the great tradition of previous bitGAN puzzles, many explored a variety of Fibonacci Numbers and Sequences.
Amazed at all the attempts and creativity that has gone into trying to solve this puzzle, and even borrowing some if the ideas everyone here has put forth for future puzzles. I really appreciate all of the work.
For some reason I feel confident it is right on the verge of being solved. But don’t go too crazy. I feel guilty that it might be hard, and that it may be unsolvable, but hopefully not.
